Las Vegas, NV, USA - In a scheduled 12-round heavyweight contest broadcast live on DAZN, Jarrell Miller (28-1-2, 22 KOs) defeated Lenier Pero (13-1, 8 KOs) by decision to win a WBA title eliminator.

Lenier Pero made the sharper start, establishing his southpaw rhythm early behind a busy jab and straight left. He targeted the body effectively and snapped Miller’s head back with clean counters, including a heavy chopping left in the opening round. In the second, Pero’s timing stood out again — a right hook and left uppercut landed clean, forcing Miller to take a step back and respect the Cuban’s power.
Miller responded in the third by closing the distance and dragging the fight into close quarters. The exchanges became heavier and more physical, with Miller digging to the body and working short uppercuts inside. Pero continued to find space for counters, but Miller’s pressure began to tilt the rhythm of the fight.
By the fourth and fifth rounds, Miller had established his preferred terms. He forced Pero onto the ropes and went to work with wide hooks and uppercuts, mixing head and body attacks. Pero fired back with sharp shots of his own, including well-timed right hooks and straight lefts, but he was increasingly being forced to fight at Miller’s pace rather than his own.
The middle rounds saw sustained pressure from Miller. He repeatedly walked Pero down, breaking through the guard with right hands and clubbing hooks, while maintaining a steady output. Pero had success in spots — particularly with counters on the inside — but he was absorbing more punishment and spending longer stretches backed up. The physicality of Miller’s attack began to wear on him, especially during exchanges along the ropes.
In the eighth, Miller’s heavier shots were clearly taking effect. Several right hands snapped Pero’s head back, and the Cuban spent much of the round pinned, trying to answer back but unable to slow the momentum.
Pero showed resilience and rallied in the ninth, taking advantage of a slightly reduced pace from Miller. He found success with body shots and right hooks, stringing together one of his better rounds since the early stages. He followed that with another strong effort in the eleventh, briefly pushing Miller onto the ropes and letting his hands go in combination.
Still, Miller remained composed and returned to forward pressure whenever needed.
In the final round, Miller closed the show with authority. He pressed forward behind volume, landed a heavy right that forced Pero backward, and finished the fight with sustained work to the body and head. Pero, under pressure and on the ropes, was outworked down the stretch as Miller emptied the tank to secure the victory.
This was a physically demanding, high-contact heavyweight contest that evolved from a technical start into a grinding inside fight.
Pero’s early sharpness and late efforts showed his quality, but Miller’s ability to consistently force exchanges, absorb return fire, and maintain a higher work rate proved decisive over twelve rounds.
A strong, workmanlike performance from Miller in a fight that required persistence, durability, and pressure to break down a skilled opponent.
