Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (March 8, 2024) - In what proved to be a very entertaining heavyweight showdown Justis Huni (9-0, 4 KO) triumphed over Kevin Lerena (30-3, 14 KO) in a thrilling battle.

Justis Huni had to dig deep against Kevin Lerena who brought frequent dangerous moments.

The Australian fighter, stronger on his feet, started the match impressively. However, Lerena, the South African boxer, landed a left cross early in the second round, followed by a short right hook a minute later, causing damage to Huni. Despite the setback, Huni managed to bounce back, consistently landing right-hand shots and finding openings in Lerena's defense. Huni's agility, activity, and slight edge in speed allowed him to steal the fourth round. However, Lerena, firing sharp shots angles, remained a constant threat.

Lerena increased the tempo in the fifth round, though he still struggled to corner his opponent against the ropes. This exertion cost Lerena as he conceded the sixth without much resistance. However, he returned fiercely in the seventh round, earning a 10 from the judges' scorecards against Huni's 9.

Before the final round, it appeared Lerena needed a knockout win. However, fatigued from his efforts, the South African boxer failed to mount a significant enough attack. Suddenly, halfway through the tenth round, Lerena, exhausted, landed a left hook to Huni's chin,. The Australian prospect however managed to weather the last 90 seconds of the round, fighting on instinct, managing to stay on his feet. Lerena was too drained to finish what he started.
