Koszalin, Poland — Kacper Meyna dropped Victor Emilio Ramírez twice in the third round, but had to go the full ten to earn a unanimous decision at Hala Widowiskowo-Sportowa on Saturday.

The victory secured the WBA Continental heavyweight title and moved Meyna to 18–1 (11 KOs). Ramírez, the former WBO and IBF cruiserweight champion, falls to 34–6–1 (28 KOs).

Ramírez made the opening rounds difficult, closing the distance and giving Meyna little room to settle. Then Meyna broke through in the third, putting the Argentine down twice and appearing close to finishing the fight.

Ramírez had other ideas.

The 42-year-old recovered and kept coming forward. His quicker punches at close range troubled Meyna, who too often backed straight up and allowed the veteran to follow him inside.

Meyna was more effective with room to punch, but struggled to keep Ramírez there. The uppercuts that might have checked those advances were too infrequent, and the fight became harder work than the third round had promised.

As the rounds passed, Meyna’s output faded. Clinches and exchanges near the ropes broke up his rhythm, while Ramírez continued finding openings. Both men slowed, but the Argentine remained stubborn enough to take the fight to the final bell.

Meyna deserved the decision. The two knockdowns and the rounds he won gave him the edge, although this was far from the commanding performance he had threatened early.

He leaves Koszalin with another victory and a regional belt. Keeping his distance and sustaining his pace against stronger opposition remain the concerns.

KAPEO Rocky Boxing Night was broadcast on Polsat Sport Fight, Super Polsat and Polsat Box Go.
