WORLD Heavyweight Boxing
Istanbul, Turkey - Mourad Aliev 15-1 (11 KOs) will face unbeaten Umut Camkiran 25-0 (23 KOs) for the vacant WBC Silver heavyweight title on November 7 at Ülker Sports Arena.
The 12-round contest gives both men an opportunity to move beyond the level at which they have built their records. Aliev brings Olympic experience and a substantial height advantage. Camkiran brings power, an unbeaten run and the chance to make his biggest statement in Istanbul.
The WBC lists the bout as a vacant Silver title fight. RMO Boxing and Arena Box Promotion are staging the event.
The French Olympian suffered his only professional defeat against Labinot Xhoxhaj in Hamburg in June 2025. It was a scrappy twelve-round fight in which Aliev’s size and southpaw boxing failed to keep the shorter champion away.
He has won twice since, most recently outpointing Raphael Akpejiori over eight rounds in May. Camkiran offers another test of whether Aliev can hold his distance and keep working when an opponent crowds him.
At around 6ft 7in, Aliev should have room to establish his jab against the much shorter Turkish heavyweight. The question is whether he can make those advantages count consistently, rather than let the fight settle into clinches and short exchanges.
Camkiran, 37, has stopped 23 of his 25 opponents. That record makes him dangerous, but the quality of opposition is the measure here. Aliev is a more revealing assignment than another quick finish against a fighter brought in to survive.
The German-born “Anatolian Lion” has collected regional titles and previously beaten Arnold Gjergjaj over the distance. Against Aliev, he will need to get past the jab and make the taller man uncomfortable at close range.
It is a useful matchup for a division that needs more contenders to face one another. The WBC Silver belt is a secondary title, with the greater prize being a win that can help the victor secure stronger opposition.
