Mahmoud Charr

Mahmoud “Diamond Boy” Charr is a Germany-based heavyweight who has also competed as Manuel Charr. He turned professional in 2005 and reached a WBC title challenge against Vitali Klitschko in Moscow in September 2012. Klitschko stopped him in the fourth round.

His later opposition included Alexander Povetkin, Johann Duhaupas, Mairis Briedis, Kevin Johnson and Alex Leapai.

The WBA Regular title

Charr beat Alexander Ustinov by unanimous decision in Oberhausen on November 25, 2017, winning the WBA’s secondary Regular heavyweight title. Later victories included Christopher Lovejoy, Nikola Milacic and Nuri Seferi.

The WBA reinstated him as Regular champion in August 2023 following a court settlement. He lost the belt to Kubrat Pulev in Sofia on December 7, 2024. Pulev won their twelve-round fight by unanimous decision, with scores of 117–111, 117–111 and 116–112. Read the fight report.
