London, UK (October 14, 2023) - Delicious Orie, the heavyweight boxer with a name as strong as his punches, has been named the Best Amateur Boxer of 2023 by the Boxing Writers' Club of Great Britain. The prestigious award was presented to Orie at The Savoy Hotel in London, with former light-heavyweight world champion John Conteh MBE doing the honors.

Orie's remarkable achievements in 2023 include securing a spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics and winning gold at the European Games in Poland. However, his success did not come out of nowhere, as the 26-year-old boxer, who didn't start boxing until he was 17, won bronze at the European Championship in 2022 and followed it up with gold at the Commonwealth Games.

Expressing his gratitude for the award, Orie humbly stated, "It's an absolute honor. Looking at the giants who’ve held this award, I can’t help but feel I’m on the right path." He credited his success to rigorous training camps in the United States and Kazakhstan, where he faced various fighting styles and opponents.

Delicious Orie also acknowledged the vital role of his GB Boxing coaches and staff in his journey. With his eyes set on the future, he confidently declared, "The past year’s been surreal, but guess what? I’m just getting started. Bring on 2024!"

Orie now joins an elite list of boxers who have received this award, including Olympic gold medalists like James De Gale, Luke Campbell, Anthony Joshua, Nicola Adams, Galal Yafai, and Lauren Price, who have been honored by the Boxing Writers' Club since 2008.
