New York City, New York - Teremoana Teremoana didn’t just win — he arrived.

The 35-year-old Australian made a thunderous statement at Madison Square Garden, scoring a brutal first-round knockout over previously undefeated American Aleem Whitfield. The win improves Teremoana's professional record to 8-0, all by knockout.

Stepping in on late notice, Teremoana unleashed a storm of power and composure that left the boxing world buzzing. Backed into a corner, Whitfield had no answers as the hulking Olympian crashed through his guard with a vicious series of right hands that ended the bout.

“Serious power... the power is real,” said former world champion and DAZN analyst Sergio Mora.
“I was impressed with how he set that up with his jab.”

Called Up, Called Out — and Called It

Originally scheduled to fight on the undercard of Jai Opetaia’s Gold Coast event, Teremoana jumped on a plane with just days' notice to replace an opponent and make his U.S. debut under the bright lights of The Garden.

Despite the quick turnaround, the result was a clinic in timing and destruction.

DAZN’s Corey Erdman called it a “frightening knockout,” while Mora and others pointed to the sharp technical discipline behind the raw power.

“I’m Here to Take Over”

After the fight, a fired-up Teremoana made his intentions crystal clear.

“I’m here to take over the heavyweight division,” he said.
“I want to do it like Fight Night back in the day—go up the ladder and beat everyone.”

Teremoana also reflected on his amateur pedigree, referencing his performance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where he lost to Bakhodir Jalolov, who remains undefeated as a pro.

“I believe I should’ve been the gold medalist... but God has a plan, and that plan is the world title.”

And yes — a Jalolov rematch is on his radar.

“I’d definitely fight Jalolov again.”

Eddie Hearn: “Remember the Name”

Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn was quick to heap praise on his new heavyweight prospect.

“This guy’s a future world heavyweight champion, full of energy, full of personality. Exactly what the sport needs,” said Hearn.

“He has speed, he has IQ, and he has terrific punching power. So remember the name — so nice they named him twice. Teremoana Teremoana will be a big star.”

Hearn confirmed that the plan is to have Teremoana fight next in Australia in August before bringing him back to the U.S. and U.K. for two or three more bouts to continue building his international profile.
