Junior Fa built an unbeaten professional career in New Zealand before reaching major international heavyweight cards. The tall Papakura boxer worked behind his jab and used distance to make opponents come to him.
He turned professional in 2016. Wins over Newfel Ouatah, Dominick Guinn and Devin Vargas in 2019 brought him to 19–0.
Parker and the later defeats
Joseph Parker gave Fa his first defeat at Spark Arena in Auckland in February 2021. Fa completed the twelve-round contest, but Parker won by unanimous decision.
Lucas Browne stopped him in the first round in June 2022. A win over Tussi Asafo followed, before Frank Sanchez stopped him in the seventh round in Riyadh in December 2023. The Sanchez fight was his final professional appearance, leaving him at 20–3 (11 KOs).
Retirement
Fa withdrew from a planned fight with Arslanbek Makhmudov and announced his retirement in spring 2024. He told Pacific Media Network that he no longer wanted to box, with the support of his family and team. No comeback has been announced.
