New Zealand’s World Champion

Joseph Parker’s hand speed and combinations took him from Auckland to the WBO heavyweight championship. He turned professional in 2012 and beat Carlos Takam in 2016 before outpointing Andy Ruiz Jr. for the vacant world title that December.

After defences against Razvan Cojanu and Hughie Fury, Parker lost the belt to Anthony Joshua in their 2018 unification fight. A defeat to Dillian Whyte followed.

A Second Run Among the Contenders

Parker rebuilt with wins over Junior Fa and Derek Chisora, although Joe Joyce stopped him in 2022. He responded with another strong run, beating Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang on points. The Zhang win brought the WBO interim title.

He stopped Martin Bakole in February 2025 before losing to Fabio Wardley in round eleven that October. His record stands at 36–4 (24 KOs).

Parker’s representatives said in August 2026 that UK Anti-Doping had lifted his provisional suspension and he was eligible to return. The underlying decision has not been independently obtained. No next fight has been confirmed.
