Olympic Silver and an Attacking Style
Richard Torrez Jr. won super-heavyweight silver at the Tokyo Olympics before turning professional with Top Rank in 2022. The Tulare, California southpaw uses pressure and combinations to close the distance against taller opponents.
His early run included stoppages of Curtis Harper and Brandon Moore. A disqualification victory over Joey Dawejko was followed by a stoppage of Isaac Munoz.
Longer Fights and a First Defeat
Torrez beat fellow Olympian Guido Vianello over ten rounds in April 2025, showing he could maintain his work beyond the early finishes. He then stopped Tomas Salek in the first round that November.
Frank Sanchez knocked him out in round two of an IBF final eliminator at the Pyramids of Giza on May 23, 2026. It was Torrez’s first professional defeat and left him at 14–1 (12 KOs). No next fight has been confirmed.
