Ughelli, Nigeria (October 7, 2023) - Nigerian Top Heavyweight Efe Ajagba is gearing up for a highly-anticipated rematch against Australian Joe Goodall in the main event scheduled for November 4 at the Tahoe Blue Event Centre in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, USA.

The upcoming fight holds historical significance as it marks the first boxing event hosted at this newly inaugurated venue.

Ajagba and Goodall previously faced each other as amateurs, with Goodall securing a decision victory in the semi-finals of the 2014 Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, Scotland. Ajagba would go on to win a bronze medal at those Games.

Beyond the rivalry, Ajagba sees this bout as a crucial step towards earning a world title opportunity.

"This is a great opportunity for me to close out the year with a big victory and move closer to a world title opportunity," said Ajagba. "Goodall is a big, powerful heavyweight, but I am confident in my preparation, and I will do what it takes to be victorious."

Bob Arum, chairman of Top Rank, emphasized the significance of the fight between Ajagba and Goodall, noting that Ajagba is an elite heavyweight contender with the potential to challenge for a world title in the near future.

"Efe Ajagba is an elite heavyweight who could challenge for a world title soon, but he has a tall order against Joe Goodall. This will be a sensational card. We are privileged to promote the first boxing event at Tahoe Blue Event Center, a spectacular new venue," said Arum.

Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment, elaborated on the rivalry between Ajagba and Goodall, highlighting the unique narrative of their rematch.

"After his thrilling win in July, I'm happy to get Joe a fight of this magnitude. Joe beat Efe in the amateurs. Sometimes, fate works in your favor. This will be a sensational fight between two knockout punchers. The fans are the big winners."

Ajagba will be making his third appearance of 2023 in this bout. His recent victories include a win by disqualification against Zhan Kossobutskiy in August and a sixth-round TKO against Stephan Shaw in January.

Efe Ajagba defeated Zhan Kossobutskiy by disqualification and took home the WBC Silver title.

For Goodall, this fight presents an opportunity to showcase his skills on the international stage and stake a claim for a world title shot.

"Efe Ajagba is a world-class boxer and a huge challenge for me. This is an opportunity, though, for me to come to America and show the world what I am capable of," said Goodall. "It's a massive show, and I'm genuinely honored to be a part of it. When I signed with DiBella Entertainment, I told Lou that I only wanted the big fights. I want to put myself in a position to fight for a world title, and I believe beating Efe will do that."
