New York City, New York - Canadian prospect Alexis Barrière 12-0 (10 KOs) will face American Roney Hines 14-0-1 (8 KOs) on July 6 at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The bout, scheduled for 10 rounds, will be for the WBC Continental Americas Heavyweight Title and takes place on the undercard of Richardson Hitchins vs. George Kambosos Jr.

Alexis Barrière and Roney Hines will clash in a battle of unbeaten heavyweights for the WBC Continental Americas title on July 6 at MSG’s Theater - GYM

This will mark Barrière's first appearance under the Matchroom Boxing banner following his recent signing. The fight represents a step forward for the young Quebec native, who is co-promoted by Montreal-based GYM Promotions. Matchroom has indicated their belief in Barrière’s potential to become a player in the North American heavyweight scene.

Barrière has built a solid record primarily on Canadian soil, demonstrating a crowd-pleasing power-punching style with a near 85% knockout ratio. While his resume has yet to include a marquee name, his performances have sparked rising interest in Canada’s boxing circles. This fight with Hines, while a showcase opportunity, is also his most legitimate test to date.

Roney Hines, out of Cleveland, Ohio, enters the fight as an unbeaten yet largely unheralded opponent. Standing 6-foot-6, Hines brings physicality, amateur pedigree, and a high ring IQ. He won the 2018 National Golden Gloves in the United States and has sparred with elite names including Anthony Joshua. However, inactivity and a lack of promotional momentum have slowed his climb. His last bout came in April 2024, a decision win over Robert Hall Jr.

Hines' lone career blemish is a draw against Helaman Olguin in 2022. While he carries experience, Hines is viewed as the "opponent" in this fight, expected to give Barrière rounds and perhaps test his limits.

The matchup is tactically interesting. Barrière will be looking to apply pressure, work off the jab, and land with authority. Hines, a measured and technically sound boxer, will likely try to frustrate the Canadian with movement, counters, and clinches.

The winner will take a significant step forward in the WBC rankings, with the Continental Americas title often serving as a springboard into bigger opportunities.

For Barrière, this is a statement moment. A dominant win at MSG, especially on a major card with international visibility, could put him firmly on the radar.

For Hines, this is a chance to crash the party and upset the promotional plans.

One thing is clear: July 6 in New York City, Alexis Barrière and Roney Hines will put their unbeaten records on the line in a fight that could shape the next phase of their careers.
