Heavyweight Boxing
Philadelphia, PA, USA - The division will see a pivotal ranking clash on October 11th in Philadelphia at the Xfiniti Mobile Arena when undefeated Canadian prospect Alexis Barrière (12-0, 10 KOs) takes on Italian fringe-contender Guido Vianello (13-3-1, 11 KOs) for the vacant WBC Continental Americas Heavyweight Title on a Matchroom card.
This bout offers high stakes—Vianello is a recognized top-30 ranked heavyweight, while Barrière is looking to crack the rankings with the biggest win of his career.
At 6’4”, orthodox, and packing heavy hands, Barrière has quickly emerged as Canada’s brightest heavyweight hope. The Quebec native holds the Canadian Heavyweight Title and is known for his aggressive, crowd-pleasing style.
Barrière’s résumé includes a TKO win over Abokan Bokpe and a recent return from a layoff, where he forced Ubaldo Resendiz to retire after six one-sided rounds. This will be his first fight against a top-30 opponent and his first chance at an internationally recognized title.
Standing 6’6” with a strong jab and disciplined fundamentals, Vianello represented Italy at the 2016 Rio Olympics before turning professional under Top Rank. Known for his composure and tactical approach, he has fought quality opposition including Efe Ajagba, Arslanbek Makhmudov, and Richard Torrez Jr.
Vianello is aiming to rebound from his April 2025 points loss to Torrez. With a victory, he can reaffirm his place among the heavyweight elite and halt Barrière’s unbeaten momentum.
This is a classic “prospect vs. established fringe-contender” matchup—youth and explosiveness against experience and technical skill.
