Rotterdam, Netherlands - Hughie Fury picked up one of the quickest and least eventful wins of his career on Saturday night, stopping Michael Webster in the first round at Sportcomplex de Wilgenring. The finish came when Webster appeared to injure himself during an early exchange and retired, signalling he could not continue.

There wasn’t much to analyse. The bout opened in scrappy fashion, with both men trading like a pair of frustrated sparring partners before Fury began to settle and push Webster back. Just as Fury moved him to the corner and started to get a measure of control, Webster suddenly pulled up and called it off, leaving the referee with little choice but to wave the fight over.

It goes down officially as a technical stoppage — the fifth straight win for the 33-year-old Mancunian since his return last year — but it offered none of the rounds or rhythm Fury was hoping to bank. At 31-3, he keeps his name active, but this was strictly a stay-busy outing and did nothing to move him toward tougher assignments.

A routine result, a tidy record update, and nothing more.GB
