Fury (Record: 35-2-1 (24 KOs)) was tested early but gradually took command of the contest, using his jab, movement, and inside control to neutralize the heavy-handed Makhmudov and reassert himself following consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk.

Makhmudov (Record: 21-3 (19 KOs)) showed flashes of danger in the opening rounds, but was ultimately outclassed over the distance as Fury dictated the pace and range for the majority of the fight.

Early Tension, Then Control

Makhmudov started with intent, landing a right hand in the opening round and forcing Fury toward the ropes with forward pressure. The Russian also found some success in Round 7, landing three clean power shots in his best spell since the opener.

However, Fury adjusted quickly after the first round, switching stances and establishing his jab to disrupt Makhmudov’s rhythm. From there, the fight began to settle into a pattern — Fury controlling distance while Makhmudov struggled to land consistently.

Fury Breaks the Fight Down

By the middle rounds, Fury’s control became increasingly evident. He mixed his attack effectively, working behind the jab while targeting the body and landing uppercuts as Makhmudov attempted to close the gap.

Makhmudov’s pressure began to fade as the fight progressed. His attacks grew wider and less effective, often falling short as Fury made him miss and tied him up on the inside to sap his energy.

Round 8 proved to be a turning point, with Fury landing sharp combinations and rocking Makhmudov with a left hook before driving a clean right uppercut through the middle.

One-Sided Down the Stretch

From Round 9 onward, the fight became increasingly one-sided. Fury outlanded Makhmudov by a wide margin and maintained full control of the action, even forcing Makhmudov to take a knee during a clinch in the ninth.

The later rounds saw Fury dominate with steady, accurate work. He targeted the body, broke through Makhmudov’s guard with uppercuts, and repeatedly backed him to the ropes, while the Russian relied heavily on holding to survive.

Despite instructions from SugarHill Steward to push for a stoppage, Fury remained composed, continuing to box effectively rather than overextending.

What It Means

The victory marks a successful return for Tyson Fury, who demonstrated that his ring intelligence, control, and technical ability remain firmly intact. While not a spectacular finish, the performance was efficient and authoritative.

For Makhmudov, the fight highlighted both his strengths and limitations — early power and pressure, but difficulty sustaining success against a skilled and adaptable opponent.
