Trevor Bryan, known as “The Dream,” is an American heavyweight whose career reached the WBA’s interim and Regular title levels. Born on 23 August 1989, he is 37. His professional record is 22 wins and two defeats, with 15 knockout wins; his last verified completed bout was in November 2023.

Bryan’s career was closely associated with Don King promotions. His route included developmental bouts, regional honours and long periods between major appearances. That uneven schedule forms part of the context of his career, but inactivity alone cannot establish a boxer’s retirement or explain the outcome of an individual fight.

Early progress and the Rossy test

Bryan turned professional in 2011 and built an unbeaten record before meeting Derric Rossy in Las Vegas in August 2015. He won their ten-round contest by unanimous decision after scoring an early knockdown. Rossy’s experience made that a more useful test than the shorter developmental bouts of Bryan’s opening professional years.

The Rossy win brought the NABF Junior heavyweight belt, a regional-level title. The interim title and the Stiverne victory

Bryan stopped BJ Flores in August 2018 to win the WBA interim heavyweight belt. He later faced former WBC champion Bermane Stiverne in January 2021 after the originally intended contest with Mahmoud Charr did not take place. Bryan stopped Stiverne in the eleventh round and won the vacant WBA Regular heavyweight title.

The WBA operated more than one heavyweight title at the time. Bryan’s Regular belt was secondary to the organization’s Super championship and did not make him the unified or undisputed heavyweight champion. Describing the precise belt recognizes his accomplishment without giving it a different status.

Guidry defence and the Dubois defeat

Bryan defended the Regular title against Jonathan Guidry in January 2022 and won a twelve-round split decision. The narrow verdict preserved his unbeaten record and set up a defence against Daniel Dubois in Miami that June.

Dubois knocked him out in the fourth round on 11 June 2022 and took the WBA Regular belt. It was Bryan’s first professional defeat. The contest ended his title reign and moved him back into the position of a former secondary titleholder seeking a return to meaningful heavyweight competition.

Chaney and the last verified result

On 4 November 2023, Bryan met Cassius Chaney at Casino Miami. Chaney won by knockout in round seven. The WBA’s contemporary November ratings movement report confirms both the KO7 result and the local date.

The Bryan–Chaney fight remains Bryan’s last verified meaningful heavyweight result. The seventh-round knockout report records the second defeat of his professional career. No later completed professional bout has been verified.

Reported retirement and present status

Bryan’s retirement was reported in June 2024 following the Chaney defeat. That report is part of his documented career history, but a direct original announcement has not been independently established here. His present status therefore remains qualified rather than treated as a confirmed permanent retirement.

He is inactive in the available professional record, with no officially confirmed next contest or verified comeback.
