Atlantic City, NJ, USA (September 29, 2023) - The Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame is considering the possibility of building a brick-and-mortar location to serve as a physical home for boxing enthusiasts to explore the rich history and culture of the sport in the area. This initiative aims to provide a dedicated space where visitors can reminisce about Atlantic City's boxing legacy, showcasing memorabilia and exhibits related to the sport.

While the Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame currently hosts an annual weekend event to enshrine notable figures, the organization is looking to establish a permanent location. The proposed venue would not only serve as a local Hall of Fame but also have an international appeal, given Atlantic City's historical significance as a prominent boxing destination.

Ray McCline, founder and president of the Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame, mentioned that discussions and evaluations for potential locations have been ongoing, signaling their commitment to creating a physical space dedicated to boxing's heritage in Atlantic City.

The New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame, led by Henry Hascup, also doesn't have a physical location to display its extensive memorabilia collection, which dates back to the 1800s. Hascup expressed that having a museum-like location for the Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame would attract not only avid boxing fans but also casual enthusiasts, showcasing the city's rich boxing history.

In addition to the idea of a physical location, the Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame is working on various projects, including a virtual Hall of Fame accessible through their website and social media platforms. They are also planning to establish a boxing "walk of fame" on Atlantic Avenue to honor local, national, and international boxers who have made significant contributions to the sport in the city.

While there is no specific timeline for the construction of the proposed walk of fame, these efforts highlight the organization's commitment to preserving and celebrating Atlantic City's boxing heritage, even in a changing boxing landscape.
