Finally: Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua Is Official

Cardiff, Wales, UK - Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally settle their long-running British heavyweight rivalry on Friday, December 11, at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, live worldwide on Netflix.

The 12-round non-title contest was officially announced by Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority and President of the Saudi Boxing Federation. The announcement ends months of uncertainty surrounding the date and location of one of the most anticipated fights in British boxing history.

Fury 36-2-1 (25 KOs) and Joshua 30-4 (27 KOs) have occupied the upper reaches of the heavyweight division for the better part of a decade, but repeated attempts to bring them together previously ended without an agreement.

That changes on December 11.

Both men are former unified heavyweight champions and two of the most commercially successful fighters of their generation. Although no world championship will be at stake, the bout carries enormous significance for their respective legacies and will determine the winner of a rivalry that has followed both fighters throughout their careers.

Principality Stadium provides a fitting setting for the all-British showdown. The retractable-roof venue can accommodate more than 70,000 spectators and has previously hosted several major heavyweight events, including Joshua’s victories over Carlos Takam and Joseph Parker.

The fight had been considered for several other locations, including Wembley Stadium, Madison Square Garden in New York and Croke Park in Dublin. New York appeared close to securing the event before Joshua’s contractual requirement for a UK venue ultimately brought the contest to Cardiff.

Netflix will stream the event worldwide as the platform continues its growing investment in major boxing broadcasts. The precise start time has not been announced, although the main event is expected to take place later than a traditional British stadium fight to accommodate viewers in North America.

Fury enters the contest following victories over Arslanbek Makhmudov and Mariusz Wach earlier this year. Those appearances marked his return following consecutive decision defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024.

Joshua rebuilt with knockout victories over Jake Paul and Kristian Prenga after suffering a fifth-round stoppage loss to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium in September 2024. He recovered from two first-round knockdowns against Prenga before ending the contest in the second round.

The matchup presents a compelling contrast between Fury’s size, movement and adaptability and Joshua’s speed, power and more traditional combination punching. Both fighters have experienced considerable success and high-profile setbacks, adding further uncertainty to a meeting arriving later in their careers than originally anticipated.

Fury and Joshua will appear at an official press conference on September 30 at the British Airways Arc in London. Ticket information, the complete undercard and final broadcast times will be announced separately.
